Question: What is the best value weapon today?Īnswer: Most voters picked the Colt or Bushmaster as the best value for the money. I bought this as an AR-15 project kit ( started with a lower receiver) and quickly saved extra cash I could put into other parts. You can buy this as a complete rifle or as a parts kit. It’s loud, it spits fire, and it looks badass. It also comes with a flash-cone, which helps push gas to the front unlike a birdcage A2 flash hider that pushes gas 180 degrees up and forward. And like all AR’s, this is highly modular – allowing you to add optics, angled foregrips, the works. ![]() With a slim rail, you can get a solid purchase, especially in tight spaces. 223 ammunition, and feeds reliably with M4 feed ramps. A standard 5.56 AR-15, this is capable of firing mil-spec 5.56mm or civilian. This one is a 10.5″ carbine length gas system “pistol.” Don’t let the brace fool you, this is registered as a pistol, however, at the time of writing this, you can shoulder the brace. You will see a couple of PSA’s on this thread, as they are one of the best values for the money with a lifetime warranty. Frankly, if you can hit sub MOA groups at 100-300 yards, you probably need to start competing and upgrade to an accurized gun anyway. Are they accurate? Yup, enough for most applications. Palmetto State Armory is one of the biggest manufacturers of AR’s in the US, and they offer an outstanding value for the money. What follows are the best values for the money. Please vote in the poll at the bottom of page and help us decide the best AR-15 rifles. Who makes the best AR 15 rifles under $600? How is Daniel Defense vs PSA? What is the best AR-pattern rifle for the price? Bushmaster vs Colt? No-one in my range group has decided to trade their BCM, Spikes, KAC, LWRC, Windham, or Colt for a BRO.But more than that, we want to answer some questions we always see here at SGPT that we get all the time: I'm not sure who around here considers BRO top-tier. BRO jumps on the scene selling stylized, relatively expensive rifles (albeit they may include some worthwhile/nice components) and you expect people to jump on their d1cks? Seriously, a reputation for quality takes time. Obviously they've found a good niche market for themselves, kinda like the companies selling custom riding mowers. I've seen BRO around STL, mostly at Cabela's and and gun shows. ![]() How do you think Remington and everyone else have been putting camo on duck guns all these years?Įverything related to going bang is in or on the upper, so they only way upper to lower fit impacts accuracy is through annoyance of the operator. I hope this isn't news to anyone, but they didn't invent that process or even earn a fancy gold star for using it on a firearm. Do they have proper feed ramps in their barrels? MPI/HPT/shot peened bolts? BRO dips their receivers in cool colors/patterns, awesome. But that is a matter of subjective tasteĪnd does affect the fundamental quality of the rifle. Having said that, I agree that some of their paint schemes, such as the skulls on the lower, are rather "hoaky". ![]() YMMV of course, but in my experience BRO makes an excellent product. BRO is considered top tier in these parts. The company is located here in the midwest (Missouri) and is not well known outside of this area. BRO is a regional product in the sense that it has yet to acquire much of a national rep. I also have a Colt and a LMT, my BRO compares very favorably to both of them. I don't type well so it is much quicker to simply incorporate by reference that review. Kylestyle-if you'll take the time to read the review on that I referenced, you will be fully informed as to the quality components that go into a BRO.
